Andy Warhol and Coke storyboard

emagazine has joined together two top level professionals to work in a singular project, Mathias Bünte (copywriter for Coca Cola) and Raupa (graphic designer). We have worked the idea of getting together Warhol’s perception of art and Coca Cola as a universal product defining paradigmatic standards that still today can be questioned.

Even though it was thought as video-animation-installation project (idea still on the table), the final outcome is nothing but a nice piece of collaborative art.

Ray Beldner

Ray Beldner

Artist, curator and educator, Ray has joined emagazine to give us the privilege to feature his latest curatorial project: It’s Not Us, It’s You: The Rejection Show

Like many artists, Ray Beldner makes art from the stuff of everyday life: clothing, cash, stolen items, porn. The work takes the form of sculpture, installation, digital media, text-based work, and applied arts. It is frequently derived from conceptual ideas that deconstruct hierarchical systems “high art” versus “low art,” “intrinsic value” versus “commercial value,” and so on with ironic humor.

Born in San Francisco, Beldner received a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and an MFA from Mills College. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally and his work can be found in many public and private collections including the Federal Reserve Board, Washington D.C., the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Arizona, the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the Oakland Museum of California, and the San Jose Museum of Art.

Beldner is the recipient of grants from the California Arts Council, Creative Work Fund, Potrero Nuevo, and the Ruth Chenven Foundation. He has taught in the San Francisco public schools and at California College of the Arts, The San Francisco Art Institute, University of Notre Dame de Namur, and at UC Santa Cruz. Articles and reviews of his work have been published in: Arte, Wired, Art On Paper, Playboy, Art Papers, Artweek, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

Most recently, his artwork has been exhibited in Inventing Marcel Duchamp: The Dynamics of Portraiture¸ National Portrait Gallery, Washington D. C., Redesign: Transforming the Ordinary, Nevada Museum of Art, Reno, Nevada, Material Abuse, Clifford Gallery, Colgate University, Hamilton, NY, and in Greetings From the American Dream, Riverside Art Museum, Riverside, CA.

Thierry Geoffroy

Artist Thierry Geoffroy participates in emagazine presenting Emergency Room project.

Thierry Geoffroy has worked with format art since 1989 when he wrote a manifest on 5 types of moving exhibitions(Manifeste – Les differents Types de moving Exhibitions). Since then he has worked on several other formats, his most famous being Emergency Room, which has toured internationally and has been shown at P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center in New York.

The format art of Thierry Geoffroy is created to be actualized in multiple locations, every time adding new knowledge to the format. The method is inspired by the TV format program: Art institutions wanting to use an art format must purchase a license and agree to use the original title, the architectural concept and the methods. As in TV vast documentation is always created with video and photo material as central elements.

Thierry Geoffroy’s formats always involve many participants – often several hundreds – and is occupied with social psychology conflicts, collaboration, etc.

Besides a long and norm-challenging, often humouristic, unusual and immense art production Thierry Geoffroy has also made several productions for Danish national television DR2. Among these the programs “Capitain” (1999), ”Immigranten” (2001), “Photographe“ (2002) and “Protest Underwear” (2005). The choice of media is frequently changing and is usually concerned with the contemporary. News papers, radio, fashion industry, telephones, internet domains, parties, music festivals, performance, myspace and facebookare among the elements of the artists crossmedia praxis.

Central to the philosophy of Thierry Geoffroy seems to be the concern that contemporary artists have an obligation to confront current thematics – “emergencies”. This is especially evident in Emergency Room and the Awareness Muscle format which goal is to train the collective “muscle of awareness”.

Parallel to the artists conceptual work with format arthe has also worked with subjects such as immigration, multiculturalism, colonialism, tourism, hypocrisy and the role of the artist.

Karol Radziszewski

Karol Radziszewski

An artist actively seeking and initiating diverse means of communication. A painter, performer, and public intervener. To realize projects, he easily chooses a certain media, from the classic (painting, drawing, photography)
to the experimental (working with space, video-art, multimedia, blog). Radziszewski’s chosen language perfectly coincides with character of the work, creating a determined and clear announcement. At the same time, his works are accompanied by a studying process of different forms of communication with reality and ways of art functioning in life. Radziszewski is clearly interested in the possibly of continuing the idea of pop art, as well as fulfilling the renaissance idea of humanism. Often in his realizations, he binds popular elements with classic ones and always intensely involves the sphere of individual feeling. Documenting himself, close ones, occurrences, and patterns, he builds a contemporary subjective notation.
